About the Specs.

photo by my husband. on my porch. wearing my glasses.

This post is, admittedly, several months late. Back at the beginning of the year, I really decided I needed a new pair of glasses. I mean, if I'm being perfectly honest, I'd been running around the house wearing the same pair of specs since 2004. Since I get my eyes checked regularly, I knew my prescription had changed but I kept on rockin' the contact lenses and only wearing my glasses at night. You know, to "see the tv." Basically this meant that every night after my shower, I would bump around the house in a towel going, "Have you seen my glasses?" And every night, they'd be in a different place.  You'd think I would learn, but alas, no. Again, to be honest, I couldn't really see regardless of my wearing them or not. They were that out of date. In the very long search for new ones,  every pair I found that fit my face was grossly out of my price range, especially since I do tend to sport my contacts on a daily basis. I couldn't justify spending half a grand on a pair of glasses if I wasn't even wearing them every day. I tried that Warby Parker situation where you get them to send you a box full of glasses to try, but they were all ginormous on my face so I sent them back and didn't order any. Finally, I saw enough bloggers chattin' it up about Bonlook, so I thought I'd give it a go. They let you upload a photo of yourself and you can try on all the glasses virtually... I was a bit apprehensive to order a pair after only superimposing them on my face via the interwebs, but I did it anyway. They were in the range of what I was willing to spend on a pair of glasses so I bit the bullet and ordered those suckers. This is the pair I landed on. When they arrived, I literally wore them for a month straight. I still wear them fairly often, and am so, so pleased with them. Their internet-tryer-on thing really was incredibly accurate. So don't be scurred.

  3. Those are so cute on you! I tried Warby Parker's home try-on 3 times! You'd think I would have gotten over it, given that every pair swallowed half my face to the point that i was a head with big black glasses and a mouth. Definitely trying Bonlook now.
