I have never really been a girl who wears a lot of jewelry. I tend to wear the same pieces every single day, add in a necklace here or there, and call it a day. I sometimes wish I was better about accessorizing with jewelry, but I'm just not. I'm fairly simple and I have a few pieces I wear every single day.
1) My engagement ring. I LOVE it. I love it more than any other ring I've ever seen... and I'm pretty sure that's how you're supposed to feel about your engagement ring. I think it's timeless and looks like a family heirloom. It's NOT one, but it will be. Hopefully. One day.
2) My wedding ring. My wedding ring and engagement ring don't nestle together since my engagement ring is in the shape of a hexagon. But I wear them together in a messy stack. Sometimes on the weekends I JUST wear my wedding ring. It's very thin and sweet and it stands alone as it's own piece.
3) My mom's pinky ring from the 1970s. I think one of her high school boyfriends gave it to her and her name is engraved on it and it is GOLD. I kind of think it rocks.
4) My arrow bracelet from Catbird. It was a 30th birthday gift from Willie, and it's just thin enough and light enough that I don't really notice it is there.
5) I also alternate between a pair of tiny diamond studs given to me by my grandfather when I was 15 and a pair of tiny round opals I bought myself in Austin. I put a pair in, wear them for weeks and weeks, and then decide to switch them out. I don't even really remember that they're there.
What jewelry do you wear on a regular basis? Any favorite pieces? Do you switch it up?
Your engagement ring is really stunning!
ReplyDeleteI second tamera's comment - it's AMAZING. And that bracelet is beautiful - I may have to hint to N about it :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much like you. I wear my engagement ring on my left hand, my wedding band on my right hand, and a few select pairs of studs: vintage turquoise, super cheap brassy skulls, or bezel-style white enamel & gold. I rarely get to wear necklaces these days (6-month-olds are REALLY GRABBY), but when I do, I usually wear this locket, a horribly awesome initial necklace from the 90's, or a my favorite necklace (purchased in Africa).
The pinky ring is AMAZING. I need more gold in my life.
ReplyDeleteI love your basics - I'm pretty much the same way -- engagement + wedding ring and the studs Brian got me for graduation. And then if I'm seeing my parents or grammie, I try to remember to put on whatever necklace they gave me for the last holiday we had together ;)
ReplyDeleteeeeeeee! i don't ever think we've seen your showcased ring on here, what took so long!? it is GORGEOUS. the hex shape with a round stone, knife edge, sheer height- my inner jewel freak is dying! the unique way the stones sit around the basket is enough to make me get a little hyper.
ReplyDeletei'm not good at figuring out necklaces & earrings. on the daily (as in- sleep in, shower in, never take off) would be my emerald cut e-ring, plain rose gold catbird wedding band, 1 rose & 1 yellow gold first knuckle rings, a satomi scalloped band, a rose & silver cape cod bracelet, & an antique slide bracelet that was my grams with all sorts of cool colored stones in every shape & size- including scarabs. i got a brass rib ring from odette last week which i LOVE but turns me green :/
So lovely! I don't wear much jewelry. On a daily basis, I wear my engagement ring and wedding band. Sometimes, I'll wear a delicate necklace. And, on special occasions, I'll wear my hair up and put on a pair earrings. ;)
ReplyDeletenaurnie pants, THAT RING. i just recently started wearing my engagement ring again because it didn't fit while i was pregnant. joe got me a new [vintage] wedding band in his hometown because someone hit on me at a bar when i was 5 months along. i still wear that one instead of my original. i also wear a friendship bracelet from son of a sailor, and my moon stud earring because i have not replaced the star that i lost a few months back (that's right, i only wear one earring). come to think of it, all my jewelry is from joe.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea.
