hair dos + hair don'ts

my veil finally arrived a couple of weeks ago... and i thought it was time to schedule a hair trial for the big day.  i mean, you can't have a hair trial without having your pretty hair accessories, now can you?  so i called up the salon where i have my hair cut and booked an appointment.  i was really excited, mind you.  a close, grown up lady friend (sandra) came with me to supervise + give suggestions.  i had envisioned something pretty vintage looking... maybe a messy bun using my naturally wavy hair.  i told her, 'please don't make it big.  and please.  don't make it look too done.'  i'm not one of those girls that often looks very 'put together', so i didn't want to look all prissy on my wedding day.  i want to look like ME.

homegirl did NOT follow directions.  it was HUGE.  i'm talking delta burke circa 1989.  susan sugarbaker.  everyone said it looked great... i'm sure it was fine (and probably not as big as i thought).  but i did NOT feel comfortable.  i was kind of worried about it for a couple of days + started to scour the internet for more inspiration.  then, in the same day, i came across this photo:
and my friend, sara beth, and her sister, margaret, saved the day.  they recommended another person to do my hair.  i immediately scheduled another appointment.  we shook hands + i immediately felt more comfortable.  we talked for a long time about what i wanted.  i showed him the veil.  he played with my massive amount of hair, and i showed him this photo.  then he came up with an idea.

and i felt a jillion times better.  all you ladies out there planning weddings?  get a hair trial.  and if you don't like it?  keep getting them until you do.  it is your day, and you deserve to feel like you are looking good.
xo.

i HATE when everyone tells you y like your hair color/cut/styling when you're not comfortable with it! i always want to say- well it's not your head now is it?- when that happens.

that pic is beautiful! glad you found someone who suits you better [guys always do a better job in my opinion ;) ]

Love that photo!!

Totally feeling you on the hair trial. I had two, had curls put in both times, wasn't sure. Woke up on my wedding day and thought screw it - I'm going with my straight hair. So glad I did - I really felt like me.

I want to see photos of YOUR hair trail!!
